Campus N27

The Institute of Microbiology, Virology and Hygiene is responsible for the diagnostics of pathogens in infectious diseases for the clinical partners at the university medical center Hamburg-Eppendorf and for the education of students in medicine and life sciences at the University Hamburg.

Our research groups focus on molecular mechanisms of bacterial and viral pathogens in human diseases. We study cellular and pathogen encoded mechanisms, host-pathogen interactions and their role in infectious diseases. In our combat to understand host-pathogen interaction we collaborate with the Leibniz Center of Infection (Heinrich-Pette Institute, HPI, Bernhard-Nocht Institute, BNI and the Research Center Borstel, FZB) and the German Electron Synchrotron, DESY.

Open positions, job vacancies

We welcome speculative applications for PhD positions (PhD positions for Life Science students and PhD positions for medical students).

Please send your motivation letter, CV, certificates and other credentials directly to the group leader of the research group you are interested in joining.
